Fried Corn Cakes

6 cups cornmeal
1 cup all-purpose flour
Salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups sour milk or buttermilk
Water, as needed

Mix all ingredients, adding just enough water to make of the right consistency ? a very heavy batter. Fry in hot oil in skillet. Turn to brown other side. Delicious with ranch beans. Can be eaten cold or hot.
