  • 1 Onion chopped

  • 2 cups Cream or Milk heavy cream for richness or milk for lighter version
  • 2 cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese the star of the dish

  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Thinly slice your four large potatoes using a mandoline or sharp knife.
  3. In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Add in the chopped onion and sauté for about 3-5 minutes, or until the onions become translucent.
  4. Add 1 pound of ground beef to the skillet with the sautéed onions. Sprinkle in 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1 teaspoon of paprika, salt, and pepper to taste. Cook for 8-10 minutes until the beef is browned.
  5. In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes along the bottom.
  6. Distribute the cooked beef mixture evenly over the first layer of potatoes.
  7. Pour half of the cream or milk evenly over the beef.
  8. Layer the remaining potato slices on top of the beef, followed by the remaining cream or milk.
  9. Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake for about 45 minutes.
  10. Remove the foil, sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top, and bake uncovered for an additional 15 minutes until cheese is melted.
  11. Let it cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.
