Toffee Instructions

  2. Melt the Butter: In a heavy-bottom saucepan, melt unsalted butter over medium heat.
  3. Combine the Ingredients: Add granulated sugar, salt, water, and vanilla extract to the saucepan.
  4. Cook the Mixture: Continue cooking over medium heat, stirring constantly for 10–12 minutes.
  5. Reach the Perfect Color: Cook until it turns a deep golden caramel color at 290°F (143°C).
  6. Pour and Spread the Toffee: Pour the toffee onto the prepared baking sheet and spread it evenly.
  7. Add the Chocolate: Sprinkle chocolate chips evenly over the hot toffee and let them soften.
  8. Top with Nuts (Optional): Sprinkle chopped nuts over melted chocolate and gently press them in.
  9. Cool the Toffee: Allow it to cool completely at room temperature for about an hour.
