Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil. Add onion and sauté for 3–4 minutes until soft.
  3. Stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add ground beef, breaking it apart. Cook until browned, about 6–8 minutes.
  5. Mix in tomato paste, salt, and black pepper. Cook for 2–3 minutes.
  6. Remove skillet from heat and let the mixture cool for 5–10 minutes.
  7. Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface to a rectangle of about 12 x 16 inches.
  8. Spoon the cooled beef mixture down the center of the pastry.
  9. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the beef filling.
  10. Fold the pastry over the filling, tucking in the ends to seal.
  11. Score the top of the pastry and brush with beaten egg.
  12. Bake for 25–30 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
