Step-by-Step Instructions
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine 12 oz of cranberries, 1 cup of peeled and diced apples, ¾ cup of sugar, and ¼ cup of water. Stir the mixture gently to ensure the sugar begins to dissolve while the fruits start to release their juices.
- Increase the heat slightly to bring the mixture to a boil, allowing the cranberries to burst open, which takes about 5 minutes. Once boiling, lower the heat to a simmer.
- Reduce the heat to low and let your Apple Cranberry Sauce simmer for 20 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking and to evenly distribute the flavors.
- If desired, add ½ teaspoon of cinnamon and ¼ teaspoon of ground cloves during the last few minutes of cooking.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat once the sauce has thickened. Allow it to cool for a few minutes in the pot before transferring it to a bowl.
